Browser-based Interface

Description - A Gcom-proprietary, browser-based interface to a configuration and management tool

Purpose - Developers and administrators use the browser-based interface to configure, troubleshoot, and manage all Gcom-provided hardware and software.

Other Names - Gcom® Management Console, GMC

Usage Benefits - Use the browser-based interface instead of an ASCII text editor or the Gcom command line interface because it:

  • Simplifies configuration, troubleshooting, and management.
  • Shortens the learning curve.

Recommended Browsers - Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox

Program Start - Connect the unit on which your Gcom hardware and software are installed to an Ethernet network. On a workstation connected to the same network, open a browser to:

  • Or http://ip_address_of_unit/index.html

Default User Name: admin

Default Password: gcom.com

More on Relationships

Gcom_pcd configuration file - Use the browser-based interface to set parameters that tell Gcom_pcd the default encapsulation method, TCP to Gcom_ssd route(s), and system log file specifications. The browser-based interface translates your settings into configuration arguments that Gcom_pcd reads upon startup.

Gcom_pcd - Use the browser-based interface to start (and stop) Gcom_pcd.

Gcom_ssd configuration file - Use the browser-based interface to set parameters that tell Gcom_ssd the listening port, how to behave as an application-level user of the legacy protocol stack drivers, system log file specifications, and connection definitions for legacy connections. The browser-based interface translates your settings into a configuration file that Gcom_ssd reads upon startup.

Gcom_ssd - Use the browser-based interface to start (and stop) Gcom_ssd.

Gcom_config configuration file - Use the browser-based interface to set parameters that build and configure legacy protocol stack drivers. The browser-based interface translates your settings into a configuration file that Gcom_config reads upon startup.

Gcom_config - Use the browser-based interface to start (and stop) Gcom_config.

Gcom_monitor configuration file - Use the browser-based interface to set parameters that build the Gcom STREAMS environment. The browser-based interface translates your settings into a configuration file that Gcom_monitor reads upon startup.

Gcom_monitor - Use the browser-based interface to start (and stop) Gcom_monitor.

Log files - Use the browser-based interface to enable, configure, and access log files that help you diagnose installation, setup, and configuration problems.
