The following machines were used in all tests:
- Hewlett Packard 9000/777/C110, Uniprocessor 120MHz,
256MB Ram, motherboard-integrated 10BaseT network interface
card; loaded with two versions of the HP-UX operating
system: HP-UX 10.2 Release B.10.20 Version A, and HP-UX
11.0 Release B.11.00 Version A. This machine was used as
the server.
- Sun Ultra-II Sparc 10, Sparcv9 Uniprocessor 440MHz,
512MB Ram, motherboard-integrated 10/100BaseT network
interface card, running SunOS 5.7. This machine was used
as the client.
All tests were done using the netperf [12] performance benchmarking
utility. All machines were connected via crossover
cable for TCP and UDP point-to-point latency tests.
For multiple-client, server tests, all machines were
connected to an unloaded Netgear 24-port 10/100Mbps
Fast Ethernet switch.
